15th JDC Judge Carrol L. Spell, 77, died Saturday,
September 20, 2003. A World War II and Korean War veteran,
he earned his undergraduate degree from the University
of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1948 and his LLB and juris
doctor degrees from LSU Law School in 1952 and 1968
respectively. He was in the private practice of law
for nearly 10 years prior to his election to the bench
in 1962. He was re-elected to his second term in office
in 1966, where he served until his retirement in 1980.
He also served as Attorney for the Inheritance Tax Collector,
Vermilion Parish, from 1953 to 1956.
